Lyrics

You could’ve been something special
You could’ve been my friend
But then you left me all alone
Again

From the start, my heart was yours
A love for all the world to see
I didn’t know how very happy
I could be

But then you left me for bright lights and fame
Now you pretend that you don’t know my name
And nowadays all that I get from you
Gratuitous violence
Gratuitous violence
Gratuitous violence

Spinoff

Mark felt the music for this song worth reusing for a piece with a greater likelihood for longevity. In 2001, he expanded and rewrote the song as Gratuitous Silence. Other than the title being a nod, the lyrics are essentially unrelated to the original.
