Lyrics & Book Excerpt
JOSEY:
No contest, I’ve got the winning hand
ROD:
She was perfect, what a find
ROOT:
Almost time to adjourn
TYLER:
If I’m cut, jingles are in demand
ROD:
I can’t get her off my mind
MARIA & TOM:
Can you say crash and burn?
ROOT, RODERICK & JOSEY:
If this goes right
I just might receive the reviews that I need
RODERICK:
And we’ll knock ’em dead
With the red-headed girl in the lead
ROOT & JOSEY:
Indeed
Stage clears, except for Roderick who remains seated and Root who addresses audience as at the beginning of the scene.
ROOT:
Thank you everyone
Now we’re finally done
The day’s been so long but we all stuck it through
And though I must choose
Those who win or lose
I wish I could cast all of you
If you’re cut, don’t get
Angry or upset
You just weren’t quite right for this production
So good luck, and we
Someday hope to see
You at future auditions
We will soon decide
You’ll be notified
I’ll be sure you all
Get a call, so leave dialing to me
